My Portfolio

Photography & Digital Illustrations

Photography & Digital Illustrations are a great deal for me as I believe that they are a form of art that are able to help me express my creativity freely.

STREET
PHOTOGRAPHY

This is my 6 photos of street photography – themed people. I like people and people photography because as cliché as it is, a picture could tell a thousand words. Many people live different lives, and from these pictures it’s as if you could infer a bit of their life with their actions. It’s like having imaginary people in your head but they’re real. These pictures help dramatize your imaginations and connect yourself more with a stranger you’ve never met.

I love bikes. They’re like little portable cars but better. Bikes are lightweight, brings you around, helps you burn those nasty calories, and can even help strengthen bonds. As much as they are amazing for midnight rides with you friends, biking alone is great too. These little transportation ‘vehicles’ brings about little adventures as you go on your little bike ride or run a little errand. This man looks like he’s about to go on a solo adventure.

I think that perhaps this man has been tending to this store for quite a long time now. There must be a certain time or day that he would clean up the outside of the store. Since I happened to be there, It’s like I was caught up in his routine, and instead of a normal cleaning day outside the shophouse like every other day, there was a girl outside taking photos of him, which obviously isn’t a regular occurrence for him. So, it's like his every day, but an interrupted routine, which makes things more interesting as it’s almost like a special occurrence. It’s like being an NPC character but then something happens out of the norm.

FLATLAY

This is my 2 photos of flat lay–themed Shin Mun-approved foods. What better time is there to do a little cultural appreciation? I’ve got Mexican, Pakistani, Chinese, Japanese and Hainanese Food here. Since I’m quite picky, I usually throw my food away if I don’t like it or leave it for someone else to eat. Hence, my friends like to call foods that I like “Shin Mun-approved” foods. Therefore, these foods are special, because they’re Shin Mun-approved! The distinguished tongue is here to speak. These cultural foods are titled over the last thing I heard before taking the photograph in its native language. Let’s get cultural!
